Whole blood must be run within 30 minutes of collection - if cannot be run w/in 30 minutes, centrifuge to separate plasma: Sample good on spun PST up to 30 min or 8 hours if separated into an aliquot tube and frozen.

| Notes | **REFLEX PROTOCOL** Any lactic acid with a result >2.0 will automatically generate ONE repeat test 3 hours from the first. If the reflexed lactic acid is >2.0, a third is NOT reflexed. The provider would need to reorder as needed and the protocol begins again. |
